INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Different forms of international cooperation are highly appreciated at North Karelia University of Applised Sciences. The international dimension is meant to be an essential part of everyday life of all students and staff.

North Karelia University of Applied Sciences offers two Bachelor´s degree programmes taught completely in English: Degree Programme in Interantional Business and Degree Programme in Design. Otherwise teaching is mainly done in Finnish. Modules in English are however offered in various fields of study.

The cooperation with more than 100 partner institutions is realised mainly through different programmes such as Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Grundtvig), NORDPLUS, FIRST and North-South-South Higher Education Institution Network Programme. Furthermore, North Karelia UAS has active bilateral cooperation with institutions of higher education outside EEA/EU -countries.

Approximately 120 students participate in student exchange every year and 60% of them carry out a practical placement abroad. North Karelia University of Applied Sciences receives almost 100 exchange students annually, International exchange students also have excellent opportunities to complete individual projects, practical training and/or a thesis at North Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

The goals of international cooperation are:
- to strenghten the professional competence and language skills of students and staff
- to facilitate international aspect to curriculum development at NKUAS
- to enhance regional development
